Banarasi Rangkat Saree

Bands of yellow, blush, sage, powder blue and lilac run diagonally across the whole saree, each one a separate length of coloured warp cut and rejoined on the loom rather than printed or dyed after the weaving. Fine gold lines divide them, and small silver butis are laid through the paler bands. Kangana Ranaut has worn this saree, and it is the piece its weaver was given the Sant Kabir Award for, presented by the Prime Minister.
